N1. NUTRITION FOR LEARNING AND BRAIN DEVELOPMENT
Discover what foods children need and how these foods aid in their growth and developmental processes and in learning. You will learn how to decode food labels, identify good fats, and recognize nutrient rich foods needed for brain development.
N2. KEYS TO HEALTHY EATING HABITS
Learn specific strategies for developing healthy lifelong eating habits. Food choices, portions, cooking techniques, and caloric requirements are covered along with how to establish consistent healthy family eating habits.
N3. BODACIOUS BREAKFAST AND BEYOND FOR STUDENTS
During this interactive seminar, students will: explore basic roles of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates in healthy body function and development, distinguish between good and bad fats, make connections between healthy nutrition and learning success, review food labels, and discuss risks of concentrated sweets, caffeine, and food additives.

With children being involved in competitive sports, it is important to understand the nutritional requirements of the young athlete. Healthy eating and adequate hydration strategies are discussed along with signs and symptoms of inadequate nutrition and dehydration.
N5. EATING FOR A HEALTHY BABY: WEIGHT GAIN IN PREGNANCY
Good nutrition is essential throughout pregnancy for both the development of the infant and the health of the mother. You will learn what changes take place throughout each trimester of pregnancy and strategies for healthy nutrition practices.

There is no escape from the clutches of sleep, so come discover your soporific powers!
LG7. UNDERSTANDING AUTISM
Autism is rapidly becoming a very common concern of parents with an estimated 1 in 150 children having an autism spectrum disorder. We will cover early developmental behaviors to look for in young children and review strategies for intervention.
LG8. BEING YOUR CHILD’S ADVOCATE
Every parent experiences challenges in meeting children’s needs both in and out of the classroom. This session offers strategies to work towards positive results when navigating the challenges of education, health care, sports, and social experiences. An emphasis is placed on effective listening and communication skills using a collaborative team approach.

Let’s make a commitment to lowering unhealthy stress. Come and learn what stress does to the body and how to recognize signs of stress in your children. Effective strategies to tame stress are also shared.
HW2. SCHEDULES: HOW TO AVOID RUNNING ON EMPTY
How often do we struggle to find more hours in the day despite feeling exhausted? What impact do schedules have on our families and health? We will walk through a step by step strategy on how to balance your schedule to decrease stress and improve health.
HW3. WHY IS MY CHILD SAD?
Every family faces some emotional challenges. For children, anything from a change in school to a family illness, loss, move, or divorce, can impact emotional health. Communication strategies to support children during family challenges are discussed.
HW4. THE IMPORTANCE OF FATHERS
Fathers play an essential role in the family and especially in the role of healthy children. Involved fathers have many positive influences on children’s intellectual, social, and emotional development. You will learn the powerful impact fathers have upon children and the entire family.
HW5. THE MIRACLE OF HUMAN REPRODUCTION (for students too!)
Understanding the essentials of human reproduction is important for every family. Learn about changes that occur during puberty, the male and female reproductive systems, development from conception to birth, and strategies to stay healthy.
HW6. RECOGNIZING SIGNS OF ILLNESS IN BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN
How do I know if my baby is ill? What temperatures are abnormal and when should I call my doctor? Are rashes common with colds and viruses? We will cover signs of mild to severe illnesses in infants and children.
HW7. CHILDHOOD IMMUNIZATIONS AND WELLNESS CARE
Can I wait until my child gets older to consider immunizations? What are the benefits and risks for immunizations? How often should my child have a well check-up? You will learn the importance of childhood immunizations and why a well child exam is important for your child’s health and development.
HW8. SIGNS OF ALLERGIES IN BABIES AND YOUNG CHILDREN
When can a baby develop allergies? What are the signs of allergies? What are the most common food allergies? Are allergies and asthma related? You will learn these answers and develop a better understanding of how allergies effect young children.
